The Custom Order Process + Information Page

So you want to order a custom sign or set of cards…

Awesome! Your first step will be to have some kind of idea what you’re looking for. The options here are endless, and can go from a custom designed and painted card, or a whole set of cards made just to your specifications. I can also design and paint signs or other wall art of various sizes and material, or frame it too. For an updated inventory of signs/frames, please check out my blog. I will post updates about once a month on there with a list of my current inventory of wall art options, as well as any that may be discounted. On there I will also include sizes of paper available if you are going for a framed piece of art.

Once you know the gist of what you’re looking for…

You’ll want to get in touch with me via email, my contact page, or social media to discuss what you are looking for and to confirm a design/style for your chosen product, as well as the material/size of the sign, if that is your chosen product. If your sign is a style that I don’t keep in my regular inventory, please note that the processing time may be longer than if you choose a sign that is in stock.

Mon-ay mon-ay mon-ay…moooon-ay!

After you have chosen the physical product, it is time to give your email address so you can obtain a document with my business policies, custom order contract, and a form for you to fill out. I also will email you an invoice for the quoted amount, and unless a payment plan has been established during our initial consultation, payment must be made in full before any physical work is started on your custom order. Details about this are talked about in your custom order contract, but if you have any questions about anything that you find in it, please get in touch with me within 24 hours of receiving those documents to ask those questions/voice your concerns. I want to do my best to help you out and to establish terms we’re both cool with. :)

Now the fun begins!

Once your invoice is paid in full (or a deposit is made, per payment arrangements that were discussed and previously established), the fun part begins!
If you have ordered a custom card or invitation design to any degree, I will start working on this within 72 hours of receiving your payment. I will send you photos of the design as I come up with ideas or with elements of your design. If your design is a more simpler style, I will send you photos upon completion, but nothing is final until you approve it. You have 4 drafts included in your proofing process, but should you want to continue editing your design after I have completed it (in my eyes), these extra proofs will be charged $50 per added proof, and will be invoiced and due prior to you seeing any additional proofs. This is so that my time and resources are covered during this process, and to ensure that the design isn’t stolen without proper payment and used in a way that violates the terms of our custom order contract.

If you have ordered a custom sign, whether I have the sign in stock or if I need to special order the sign you have requested, I will photograph the sign you ordered, and draw a mock up draft for you to approve, so you can get a sense of what the final product will look like. This will help us both figure out if we are content with the overall design, confirm if the amount of words or the amount of illustrations will fit onto your ordered sign, and to confirm the overall placement of lettering or illustrations. Similar to the clients who order custom cards or invitations, you will be allowed up to 4 digital proofs per design, and once you exceed 5 or more proofs, you will be billed $50 per design, prior to the design(s) being sent to you to prevent any violation of terms listed in your custom order contract.

Once your design has been painted…

We’re ALMOST done! I will send you photos of your custom order to confirm that you like it and that you don’t need anything changed. You MUST double check all spelling before the next step, because after this step, you will need to start the entire process over if there are any misspellings or words missing!

Once you confirm that the design is one you love, the spelling is all correct FOR SURE, I will go ahead and finish your sign(s) by spraying a clear acrylic gloss on the top to protect your design, or if your order is just paper products, I will package the cards/invitations with the proper envelopes plus 1 extra envelope per 25 cards ordered (in case you misspell the recipient’s name or address….it happens!) and have your order ready for you!

Ready for pick-up or delivery!

Once your order is totally finished and packaged, I will contact you to let you know that the order is ready for pick up or delivery, or I will contact you with a USPS tracking number if your item is to be shipped.
That’s it! This process isn’t all that stressful, I hope! :)
